Occlusal Guards (Nightguards)

Occlusal Guards are used to prevent attrition (tooth damage/wear from grinding) and as a conservative treatment for certain TMJ/facial pain issues.  The dentist will evaluate your teeth periodically for signs/symptoms of these problems and determine if this treatment is indicated for you.

Most occlusal guards are made of 'hard' acrylic material to be of suitable strength to withstand clenching forces; however there are limited indications for soft occlusal guards as well.
